![]() This helpful resource enables educators to see each of their standards on one page so that they can have discussions about the TEKS changes and how they impact teaching, practice, and assessment. Even more, she’s created some amazing Texas TEKS Big Sheets that she references in the webinar, in which she’s included every new standard for each grade level, K-8 ELAR, each on one 11x17” page. She also explains the difference in difficulty and rigor, the impact of learning progressions, and lays out how we will need to change teaching and practice to align with the outcomes in the new TEKS. She breaks down the changes in instructional expectations, student practice, and assessment for ELAR. If you're interested in learning more, I recommend checking out this video webinar about Aligning Instruction with the Revised TEKS for ELAR by Vickie Gibson. They can be accessed on the /resources page under the Instructional Tools tab then select the ELAR Side-by-Sides for your grade level area. They are presented in a much easier to understand format, spelling out important cognitive changes, what’s been added/removed/moved between grade levels, and important notes. However, my favorite side-by-side documents to use are actually the free ones created by Lead4ward in fact, I consult these documents pretty much on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times a day. TEA has developed side-by-side documents to help you in this process, and though they have recently been removed from their website to update/clarify language, you can still access the previous versions here (be sure to sign up for the ELAR listserv to get updates and announcements). Here is an example of where to find the stations provided in Eduphoria.Once you understand how the TEKS were written and see how the standards are vertically aligned across grade levels, the next step is to dig further into the TEKS for your grade level and see how the new standards compare to the old ones. 25% could consist of games, fact fluency, and vocabulary.75% of math stations should include the process standards.The curriculum writers spent time ensuring that the workstations available to us on forethought include process standards. Therefore, workstations should be aligned to the TEKS. The teacher table/workstation component of the math block is roughly half of the math workshop.Therefore, we are doing our students a great service by utilizing this resource. We all know that from our time spent on August 18th learning about process standards and STAAR, that STAAR questions have at least 3 processes per questions. Exemplars is our best resource to intentionally teach the process standards.I f you cannot administer the MSTAR within the time frame, it's not anything to worry about. I will let you know when the problem is resolved. 5th Grade: The technology side of MSTAR has been having difficulties importing all of the students and assigning them to the correct teacher. ![]() ![]() This change has not been updated on Eduphoria yet. 2nd-4th Grades: We are NOT doing ESTAR testing in the fall this year.When you are backwards planning for Cluster 2 you can use the Cluster Planner, CBA, and Scaffolding Documents to work on the following: unpack the TEKS and identify Student Behaviors and Teacher Behaviors, create CFAs, plan problem solving and work stations. K-2 has curriculum writing on September 28 lessons for Cluster 2 will be posted on October 5. CURRICULUM UPDATES: Curriculum Writers will be working next week, but lessons will not be posted for grades 3-5 until the following week for Cluster 2.
